No fewer than 1,006 Gombe state students out of the 37,774 candidates who sat for the 20219/2020 junior secondary school three examinations are expected to repeat the class for failing to pass the promotional assessment test into senior secondary school one.
According to an anonymous official of the state ministry of education, the Gombe state governor, Muhammadu Yahaya, had made it known that there was no room for automatic promotion, maintaining that the only condition for a candidate to get the government’s sponsorship was to pass the assessment test.
The parents and guardians of the students who passed the test have been mandated to collect their admission letters from their schools and report to the new schools. The students were also screened by their career guidance and counseling teachers.
